Few know of my passion for vintage advertising signs, which I believe add a nostalgic touch to any mancave. Recently, I stumbled upon a rare gem, a Honda Service sign on BringATrailer.com. Its beauty captivates me, yet the decision to add it to my collection is daunting given what I believe the final price tag will be. Nonetheless, its allure is undeniable, tempting me to enrich my space with a piece that embodies automotive nostalgia and craftsmanship, plus it wouldn’t look bad adding it next to the NSX.
Dating back to 1985, this sign is a relic from an era when Honda’s influence in the automotive world was burgeoning. Measuring 48″ by 27″ by 7″, its translucent plastic panel adorned with red and white Honda Service lettering makes it a standout piece.
Honda signs are notoriously difficult to come by, they’re not only collected by auto enthusiasts but also by Honda motorcycle collectors. Currently priced at $950 and climbing, the bidding frenzy reflects its desirability. In my five years of collecting, I’ve only found a handful of Honda signs for sale, missing out on all those opprotunties.
As the auction progresses, I anticipate the final price may well exceed $2000. Yet, for collectors like myself, the true value lies not just in its monetary worth but in the joy it brings and the stories it tells.
