Subaru has just dropped a bombshell: the WRX TS (Tuned by STI) is set to replace the short-lived WRX TR trim. Making its grand debut at the Wicked Big Meet in Stafford Springs, CT, this weekend, the WRX TS is the latest and greatest from Subaru, blending enhanced performance with stylish upgrades for the 4th generation WRX. This new trim is as close as you can get to an STI without the badge.
Performance and Handling
The WRX TS is designed for those who demand more from their ride. It boasts an STI-tuned suspension with electronically controlled dampers, offering a blend of sharp handling and ride comfort that’s hard to beat. The high-performance Brembo braking system, featuring 6-piston front and 2-piston rear calipers in signature gold, provides incredible stopping power and pedal feel. Plus, with the 245/35 R19 Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, grip is never an issue, whether you’re tackling wet or dry roads.
Bold Design
Visually, the WRX TS is a head-turner. It maintains the WRX’s wide-body design, accented by Subaru’s signature hexagonal grille, compact headlights, and a prominent hood scoop. The 19-inch satin gray multi-spoke wheels complete the aggressive look.
Tech and Comfort
Inside the WRX will feature a new 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster providing comprehensive information, including map display and route guidance. The cabin features blue accents on the seat bolsters, steering wheel, door panels, and shifter trim. The iconic STI logo on the ignition start button adds a touch of racing heritage.
To save weight and performance, the power moonroof has been removed. Instead, Subaru has focused on maximizing the driving experience with Recaro Performance Design front seats, wrapped in black Ultrasuede with blue accents.
Power and Drivetrain
Under the hood, not much as changed as the WRX TS continues to impress with the same 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine found in the TR model, delivering 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The power is delivered smoothly across a broad torque curve, ensuring ample performance from 2,000 to 5,200 rpm. Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring come standard, offering unparalleled traction and control.
The Subaru WRX TS is set to be available at dealerships nationwide early 2025, giving enthusiasts something to look forward to. In the meantime we can’t wait to see what Wicked Big Meet has to feature this weeknd.
