Do you ever go back home just to see a beautiful car sitting in the garage or a local shop just visualizing what that monster would look like once the build was done? Well for me that day has come.

Spring of 2012, I decided to take a nice vacation in Denver hitting the slopes one last time before the season ended. While I was there I decided to stop off MoFab Performance. When I first walked in Scott, the owner of MoFab, greeted me and gave a tour around the shop. He showed me the latest build that his staff was currently working on, Michael Tabares, 1993 FDs3 RX7. I gazed in awe… just looking at the FULL SHINE wide body kit and the complemented with the SEIBON carbon fiber Hood and Trunk.

Scott then opens up the hood so I can see what beauty lies underneath. My eyes were blinded by the custom piping that was powder coated Gold Crystal, honestly I felt like I was Austin Powers in Goldmember “Yeah Baby.” When I started to get my vision back I noticed that there was a massive 76mm Borg Warner S400sx turbo that took the place of the twin turbos connected to the reputable 13B-REW that MoFab was currently rebuilding. My mouth dropped and I started to droll knowing one day I will see this beauty finished

Just about two years later that day finally came when I gave Michael a call so I can see the build once again. We made our way up to the popular Red Rocks Amphitheater and when I saw her she was just as beautiful now as she was back then. The newly rebuilt street-ported 13B finally finished comes with some fancy new gear (listed at the bottom of the page). The ride was built for one purpose to get that Colorado High off of all the horsepower. The 76mm Borg Warner Turbo alone frightens any challengers who dare take on this monster but with the addition of Full-race twin scroll manifold with 2000deg coating and duel 44mm external wastegates, injector dynamics 2000cc injectors primary and secondary in CJM primary and secondary fuel rails, GReddy’s lightweight underdrive pulley kit, and finished off with Haltech platinum sport 1000 ECU is easily capable of handling upwards of 1,000hp. The custom V-mounted intercooler easily filled in the empty space of the engine bay providing a unique look but also taking advantage of the air flow coming in from the front bumper.

Of course the drivetrain needed some upgrading so the nice addition of the ACT xxtreme 6-puck clutch kit and light-flywheel really helped.

A Navy Blue FD3s and Gold Gramlights 57-pro with anodized titanium lip just screams attention.

Since we are in the Rockys a nice set of tires is need fore the winding roads so a nice set of NITTO NT05’s to go along with the Gramlights is a nice touch.

Michael’s last goal to finish this project is his interior which has a nice start to it with the Sparco Mugello suede steering wheel and NRG silver quick release hub. Just to add the I.C.E.ing on the cake Focal speakers all around the vehicle, JL Audio 5 channel AMP and DUB1 subwoofer with a KENWOOD 7” HD DVD player adds to the in car entertainment giving this ride a joyful experience.

Michael’s weekends just got a whole lot better now that he has his baby back on the road to enjoy the nice Colorado weather, not to mention the Denver Broncos are on the path to the Superbowl and Marijuana is now legal.
